We’re thrilled to share the wonderful news of the resounding success of the inaugural Fresh Ayr Folk Fest, which took place from August 9-11.

Our first-ever festival brought together the vibrant spirit of our community, amazing music, and an unforgettable atmosphere that has left a lasting impression on all who attended.

A Celebration of Music and Community

The festival was truly a celebration of community at its heart. With a welcoming vibe, Fresh Ayr Folk Fest featured an array of incredible musicians who exceeded expectations, especially for those discovering their music for the first time. From the lively Pub Sessions that saw upwards of 60 participants and spectators at some sessions joining in the fun, to the headline concerts held in Ayr Town Hall, the talent on display was nothing short of extraordinary.

We were honoured to have performances from some of the finest artists in the folk scene, including Session A9, Mishra, Kinnaris Quintet, the Paul McKenna Band, Valtos, and the Lauren Collier Band, all of whom delivered outstanding shows. A particularly memorable moment was Ryan Young’s performance at the Cutty Sark Centre, which earned him a well-deserved standing ovation. The daily workshops hosted by Scotland’s finest musicians also provided an enriching experience for all who attended, adding an educational and interactive element to the festival.

Overcoming Challenges with Community Spirit

While the festival was a tremendous success, it wasn’t without its challenges. A surprise ‘monsoon’ on Friday afternoon posed some difficulties, but the unwavering spirit of our volunteers and the community shone through. Everyone rallied together, and with a few quick adjustments to the programming, we were able to carry on without missing a beat. It was a true testament to the resilience and dedication of all involved.

A Special Thank You to Our Volunteers

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 40+ volunteers who played an essential role in making the Fresh Ayr Folk Fest possible. From assisting with the running of the event to being a friendly face for attendees, your hard work, enthusiasm, and positive energy did not go unnoticed. Your contributions were key to the festival’s smooth operation, and we could not have done it without you.

Looking Ahead

The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with ticket buyers giving the festival a resounding thumbs up. We are so grateful for the kind words shared in our online survey, which affirm that the Fresh Ayr Folk Fest has made a significant impact.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to announce that planning is already underway for next year’s festival. We encourage everyone to stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates on the 2025 festival and other events throughout the year.

Thank you once again for being a part of this incredible journey. We couldn’t have achieved this success without the support of our community, artists, volunteers, and attendees. Here’s to many more years of music, joy, and community spirit!
